new york city vegetarian restaurants Blossom
Blossom
187 Ninth Ave., 212-627-1144, Chelsea, Manhattan
One of the most charming townhouses in Chelsea is home to Blossom, a vegan restaurant that feels like a private parlor, complete with fireplace. Time Out named it the City's best vegetarian restaurant in 2008 and 2009. Of further appeal is its convenience to the Gagosian Gallery, The High Line and high-end design boutiques like Balenciaga. The eclectic menu includes black-eyed pea cakes with chipotle aioli, sweet potato rolls stuffed with shredded coconut, jicama and avocado, and ravioli with pine nuts, mushrooms and cashew cream. Organically produced wines and beers govern the drinks list. Down the avenue is Blossom du Jour, the restaurant family's newish takeout spot featuring fast comfort food (wraps, salads, vegetable pot pie) that's both vegan and kosher.
